In Chat, you can exchange Messages in both direct chats and Group chats. This article summarizes the permissions and feature specifications for Chat.

Overview

There are two types of Chat.

Direct chat…One-on-one messaging
Group chat…Messaging with multiple people. You can set a Group Name and Icon

Specifications

Permissions to create a Chat

There are three permission levels for creating a New Chat.

Chat admin…Can create both direct and group chats
Direct chat…Can create direct chats only
Group chat…Can create Group chats only

Organization restrictions

When you Enable organization restrictions in the admin settings, Members outside the specified organization will no longer appear on the New Chat creation screen. Previous contacts will also not be displayed, and new Messages can no longer be sent in direct chats that were already in progress.

For Group chats, a separate operation is required to remove the affected person from the Group chat.

Messages

Sent Messages can be edited or deleted
You can reply to Messages and add reactions (emoji)
You can check the read status of Messages
Messages can be translated for display. You can also switch back to view the original text
You can search Messages. Chat Room names are filtered as you type, and Message search begins after entering 2 or more characters
You can send Files, images, and videos

Organizing Chat Rooms

You can Pin a Chat Room to keep it at the top (on mobile, you can also do this by swiping right). You can Pin up to 10 Chat Rooms
You can hide a Chat Room to remove it from the list. You can also make it visible again
Chat Rooms with at least one Message will be hidden rather than deleted. Rooms with no Messages will be deleted
You can turn notifications on or off for each room
